Ghost Stalker – Jaguar Limited Wall Decoration Art

I photographed Ghost Stalker in September 2019 while on Safari With Wild Focus Expeditions in the Brazilian Pantanal.

Meanwhile I have spent more than a year photographing wildlife, people and landscapes in all corners of the Pantanal. In September 2019 I was back in this magic place for the first time since my book Pantanal – South America’s Wetland Jewel has been published in 2005. It was rated by Discover Magazine as one of the 10 best scientific oriented books of the year. In 2003 I spent 10 days on the northern Pantanal’s river system and saw 4 jaguars. It was one of the most beautiful experiences I had as a wildlife photographer. The bonus was that I didn’t see a single other photographer during this time. How the situation had changed over the years! For the better and the worse. During my last trip we saw an incredible number of 18 jaguars in only 5 days. But, we had to share the sightings often with up to 30 boats loaded with tourists. If I had to choose between the two visits I would rather go back in time with many less people and also less jaguar sightings.

I am offering Ghost Stalker as a black & white photographic print.

The Ghost Stalker fine art print has a limited edition of only 100. Most other fine art photographers have a much higher limited edition number. The lower the number the higher is the value of the print. Please also browse through my other limited editions Special Limited Fine Art Prints (edition of ONLY 25) and Exclusive Art Collector Prints (edition of ONLY 5)

Namib Desert Quiver Tree Limited Edition Wall Art: Rainbow Trees

When I revisited this small group of quiver trees after almost 20 years I found them in rain rather than under a brilliant blue sky. Hence the name for this unusual print – Rainbow Trees.

The quiver tree is my favourite Namibian plant. It is actually an aloe (Aloe dichotoma), a succulent, not a tree. It is indigenous to the Northern Cape region of South Africa and parts of Southern Namibia. The branches were used by bushmen (san) as quivers for their arrows.

I have revisited this group of quiver trees several times since 1995. When I discovered this place first I photographed the plants at sunset with a rising full moon. I timed my last visit a few years back so I would be there once again at full moon. But I couldn’t have met a more contrasty condition. Black storm clouds were moving in and it began raining. And to my great fortune a rainbow appeared.

The Rainbow Trees fine art photography print has a limited edition of only 100. Most other fine art photographers have a much higher limited edition number. The lower the number the higher is the value of the print.

Black & White Fine Art Photography Print Camargue Beauty

I photographed Camargue Beauty while I was on assignment in the Camargue for Wild Wonders of Europe.

The Camargue is a triangular wetland lying on the coast between the Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence. It is a river delta where the Rhône meets the sea – a marshy island bounded by two branches of the Rhône and the Mediterranean Sea. With an area of over 930 km² (360 sq. miles), the Camargue is western Europe’s largest river delta

It is an important breeding ground for Pink Flamingos that have been breeding naturally in the Camargue for centuries, but since 1972 an artificial island specifically created in the Etang du Fangassier has facilitated the breeding, and each year between April and September you can view up to 15,000 couples and their offspring.

The Camargue is equally famous for its white horses. Contrary to common believe Camargue horses are not wild. They have an even temper but are lively, agile, brave and hardy. They will travel long distances with ease and are capable of enduring extreme weather and extended periods without food. Their broad hooves are evolutionary adaptations to their wet environment. These horses represent one of the oldest breeds in the world.

I photographed Camargue Beauty while I was on assignment in the Camargue for Wild Wonders of Europe.

“Arctic Sky” – Black and White Limited Fine Art Photography Print (Edition 100)

The black and white fine art photography print Arctic Sky reminds for me of everything that Svalbard’s landscapes represent: rugged mountains, giant glaciers and above them a Big Sky filled with dramatic clouds.

Vast parts of the Arctic archipelago are covered under permanent ice. Gigantic glaciers have carved deep fjords into the mountains and are breaking off at the front when they advance, giving birth to icebergs of all shapes and sizes. For me Svalbard is one of the last unspoiled nature paradises on earth where the severe elements of nature have inhibited dense human population.

The island group is also a photographer’s dream, the weather changing from day to day offering a variety of moody landscapes for dramatic images. Svalbard is also one of the best places in the Arctic where one can see polar bears. The polar bear population in the Svalbard archipelago and Barents Sea is around 3,000, which exceeds the human population. In August 2015, a survey of the Norwegian subpopulation estimated almost 1000 polar bears. Of these a little less than 300 were located in Svalbard – most of them close to the ice edge.

Arctic Sky is part of my Svalbard photography art collection. Please check out some of the others: Arctic Dreams, Blue Ice, 80 Degrees North

The Arctic Sky fine art print has a limited edition of only 100. Most other fine art photographers have a much higher limited edition number. The lower the number the higher is the value of the print.

New Zealand Landscape Wall Fine Art Morning Rays

Morning Rays is a good example for the amazing and moody conditions I encountered during the 5 months I spent photographing New Zealand’s diverse landscapes.

The variety of landscapes is impressive; mountains like the European Alps, fjords like in Norway, rolling hills in Central Otago like the Scottish highlands, volcanoes like on Iceland and rainforests on the South Island’s East Coast. The majestic landscapes more than compensate for the lack of wildlife. In this regard the neighbor Australia has much more to offer.

One early morning while I drove down from a high viewpoint at the volcano Mt. Taranaki I passed a fenced meadow when the sun just broke over a hill crest. It had frozen that night and the meadow was covered in hoarfrost. Mist rose as the warm morning sun rays hit the grass and turned this pasture into a moody scene.

The Morning Rays black and white fine art print has a limited edition of only 100. Most other fine art photographers have a much higher limited edition number.

Pride Of Africa – Lion Limited Wall Decoration Art

I photographed Pride Of Africa in August while on Safari With Wild Focus Expeditions in Botswana

During my month long visit in Botswana’s Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park there wasn’t a single day without oohs and ahhs. The safari was spiced with unforgettable lion sightings. On same days I came across more than 20 lions. The challenge as a photographer was to isolate unique moments as there often were just too many lions in the frame. These were moments when I put the camera down and just enjoyed watching their interactions of play, cuddling and nuzzling. What an experience!

I am offering Pride Of Africa as a black & white, High Key print because it draws the viewer more towards the lions’ eyes than the colored version would do. Usually High Key (light) images reflect more happiness than Low Key ones (dark, very contrasty images). The lion mother and her cub approaching my vehicle radiated happiness and safety.

The Pride Of Africa fine art print has a limited edition of only 100. Most other fine art photographers have a much higher limited edition number. The lower the number the higher is the value of the print.

Lion Fine Art Black and White Photography Print, Limited Wall Art of 100

Savuti Lions – Photographed in August 2019

In 2019 I had the most exciting lion sightings ever in Botswana. Savuti in southern Chobe National Park was entertaining us with amazing actions of lions mating, fighting, small cubs playing, mothers nursing and hunts. The normally sleeping cats put up shows that were fascinating to watch. This couple had reached the end of its several day long mating period and was still hanging out together.

I am offering Savuti Lions as a black & white, High Key print. Usually High Key (light) images reflect more happiness than Low Key ones (dark, very contrasty images). This lion mating pair surely deserves a happy representation.

A few years ago my wife and I spent several weeks exploring the Bolivian Altiplano. Altiplano means high plane and is a plateau east of the Andes with an altitude above 3500 m (11500 ft). It is the most extensive high plateau on earth outside Tibet. Coming from the Altiplano in the west the land dropped down before the town of Tupiza. After many switchbacks we were suddenly rewarded with an amazing view onto a valley covered with cathedral rocks. An approaching storm added drama to the landscape spectacle in front of us.
