If somebody asked me about my most unusual encounter with humans I don’t have to think long. At the end of February 2019 we were driving through a fierce sandstorm in Chad’s Sahara. The air was so saturated with sand that we barely could see a few meters in front of us. Suddenly out of nowhere, behind a fine curtain of sand, a man on a camel and another one with goats appeared in the middle of the sandstorm meeting for a chat. Conditions that are hostile for us westerners seem to be totally normal for inhabitants of the Sahara desert.
