Helpful workshop and photography information
Theo has selected the most unique and exciting landscape, wildlife and cultural destinations around the world for his photographic workshops. He will teach photographers of medium to advanced levels wildlife and landscape composition, the use of different light qualities for specific subjects, how to capture animals in action or to deal with the challenges of night (astro) photography. He will also go into the details of fine art printmaking. Fine art photography prints have become more and more accepted as a true artform. Art collectors especially value prints with very small limited editions.
The best way to learn nature photography is in nature and not behind a desk because nothing beats taking pictures and evaluating them directly afterwards. Digital photography has made this possible. Photoshop techniques are easy to learn. There are numerous online tutorials that teach you everything you need to process your RAW files into stunning Tiffs. But training the eye for the beauty in nature and to capture it with your camera is a totally different matter. Because of the small groups Theo takes into the field everyone gets his attention and help. In the evenings there is ample time to share the day’s work on your laptops and open discussions about possible improvements. Photography is an art and it is not restricted by rules. There are already too many rules in our lives. So feel free and develop your own vision for the beauty in nature.
Before each workshop Theo will recommend the best camera equipment to use. He has worked extensively with Nikon and Canon over the past 3 decades. His favorite place to buy photographic equipment is B & H in New York City. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the prices are very competitive: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/
