The dunes around Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert have attracted me since my first visit in 1995. Meanwhile I have visited the area on many occasions, never getting tired of the play of light and shadow when the sun is low on the horizon. Dune photography is also a great weight loss exercise. Carrying a heavy camera bag and tripod up the dunes on the lee side is quite a struggle…but worth it every time. I waited until the last sun rays painted the dune crest in front of me in an intense red.
