Description
In 2011 when Lake Eyre in South Australia was flooded after 30 years being dry I took off with my powered paraglider at the southern shore. This was my very first time using this kind of flying machine to take aerial photographs. I would be lying if I said I had not been very scared. I always had been afraid of height. When I reached about 1000m (3300 ft) above ground I circled for 1 hour until sunset and was rewarded with one of the most spectacular colorful reflections I have ever experienced. To top off the beauty of the scene nature rewarded me with a totally flat lake for a perfect reflection. Although I was very excited during the entire flight, I was even happier when I finally was safely back on the ground.
Meanwhile after 8 years of using a powered paraglider for my aerial photography I have overcome my great fear of heights and have flown with this machine on 3 continents. We only gain if we push beyond our comfort zone.
