Rolling Dunes is a high contrast print from a photograph I took in May 2019 from a high red sand dune near Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert.
The dunes around Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert have attracted me since my first visit in 1995. Meanwhile I have visited the area on many occasions, never getting tired of the play of light and shadow when the sun is low at the horizon. Dune photography is also a great weight loss exercise. Carrying a heavy camera bag and tripod up the dunes on the lee side is quite a struggle.
One of the oldest and largest deserts, the Namib stretches inland from the Atlantic Ocean, covering large swathes of Namibia and parts of Angola and South Africa. This arid hotspot surprisingly supports a diverse number of plants and animals, some of which are found nowhere else in the world.
The Rolling Dunes black and white fine art print has a limited edition of only 100. Most other fine art photographers have a much higher limited edition number. The lower the number the higher is the value of the print.
